Elder Services

“Youth is a gift of nature, but age is a work of art!”

-Garson Kanin

The decision to add someone to the life of an elder is not to be taken lightly. Having said that, our goal is to bring lightness, company and enjoyment to an elder.

The aging process should be filled with trust, compassion, dignity and fulfillment. The goal of the Elder Companion is to bring each of these qualities to our clients, thus allowing a more independent living situation filled with stimulation and contribution.

Having worked in activities in Merrimack Valley nursing homes, it became clear how important doing what you love and having someone to share it with is an integral part of living a full life; from harmonizing to cooking to eating out. Even those individuals with dementia are reachable and able to participate in activities. The beauty of one on one attention is we can build our tasks strictly around the individual.

Beyond a doubt, compassion and patience is the key to ensuring a healthy aging process. When combined with the medical community, it can result in a complete life. Life can be very busy at times, so let us come and assist in the caring of your loved one. Our service is not limited to activities, we are available to assist in the sorting of laundry, grocery shopping or other household activities. This allows your loved one to live as full a life as possible. We believe there isn’t an age cut off to being a contributing member of society.

The North Shore and Seacoast Area offers something for everyone. As an Elder Companion we structure events based on what your loved one enjoys. It could be finding a recipe, heading to the store to buy the ingredients, then whipping it up in the kitchen. It could be going to the museum to see the newest exhibit or going to the local bowling alley to reminisce about the league from the past while playing a few games.

The New England area is filled with wonderful “field trip” opportunities. If groups of people are important, we can connect with the area senior centers and participate in group activities or simply have a game night with friends – or just us! It could be getting back to the garden, growing some vegetables and, at the end of the season making a delicious gazpacho. If sewing or knitting is a love than we could make winter hats to donate to the local shelter or hospitals.

Our commitment to aging with dignity is what we strive to accomplish. We want to bring comfort, compassion, and fulfillment to a population that deserves every minute of it.
